Dear KUOR Listener,
Thank you for coming to KUOR.ORG to learn more about the recent programming changes on 89.1 KUOR-FM.
The University of Redlands and Southern California Public Radio (SCPR) are proud to announce that SCPR will now broadcast the programming it produces and acquires for 89.3 KPCC on 89.1 KUOR. This means that more than a million people in the Inland Empire who live outside KPCC's signal range will now be able to hear the combination of NPR News and award-winning regional coverage that has made KPCC the Southland's #1 public radio station.
The partnership with SCPR makes sense for the University of Redlands for many reasons. First, SCPR's programming is consistent with the university's educational and public service mission — especially SCPR's award-winning regional news service, which includes an Inland Empire bureau that will now be housed on the University of Redlands campus.
The agreement will provide paid internships for University of Redlands students and powerfully promote the university throughout Southern California. SCPR also plans a significant upgrade of KUOR's transmitter and on-campus broadcast facility. These improvements will allow for broadcast of some university events on a new digital HD radio channel.
We understand this decision may disappoint some jazz fans in the Inland Empire. We hope those fans will be able to continue to enjoy jazz through KKJZ's Web site and through both Sirius and XM satellite radio.
Again, thank you for your interest in KUOR. We hope you enjoy the programming.
