Melanie Sauer is the Director of Business Services at KPCC: Southern California Public Radio.
Sauer’s has had two careers; her first in higher education administration and her second in finance. After completing a Masters degree in Education Administration and Human Development, she held key leadership educational administration positions at University of Southern California and Scripps College, among other academic institutions. Sauer has presented widely on strategy and leadership development at national conferences, taught at the university courses in leadership and was elected to regional associations and boards. She continues to be interested in transitions and organizational change which originated with her master’s thesis on “graduation shock,” which examined the transition from college to career.
With a B.A. in accounting, she added to her financial expertise by obtaining an MBA in finance strategy at the Peter F. Drucker Graduate School of Management. At that time, she was also recruited as Associate Director for the Executive Management Program at that same institution.
Melanie has blended her background in education, accounting and finance by teaching online courses in Finance and Accounting for the MBA program at St. Georges University in Grenada, West Indies.
In the community, Ms. Sauer serves on the Board of Trustees for the Child Educational Center in La Canada, California. She has also provided advisory and consulting services for other social entrepreneurs and nonprofit organizations in theatre arts.
At home, in Sierra Madre, California, Melanie enjoys gardening, teaching and the rest of her free time with her husband, her two children and their friends.
