Pasadena (September 4, 2007) – Starting Monday, September 10, 89.3 KPCC-FM's daily news talk program Patt Morrison will expand from one hour to two hours. The program will broadcast weekdays from 1 - 3 p.m.
Morrison started at KPCC in April 2006, and has proven to be a vital asset to public affairs programming. The program is known for its innovative discussions of local politics and culture, and for its presentation of national and world news as it affects the Southern California region. "Patt's show has become an important part of 89.3 KPCC's daily service," said program director Craig Curtis. "Extending the show to two hours gives Patt and the program's staff a chance to explore more Southern California stories in greater depth. That's our mission and that's what we do best."
This expansion will significantly increase the local coverage 89.3 KPCC provides every day, and allows the Patt Morrison team greater freedom. "With a two-hour broadcast, we will have the flexibility to move quickly through a lot of material, or focus on an issue that deserves more comprehensive coverage," stated Morrison.
Patt Morrison has an extensive and distinguished career in journalism. In addition to her daily program on 89.3 KPCC, Morrison writes a regular column for The Los Angeles Times, which is distributed in over 200 newspapers around the country. She also hosts various television programs and lectures on political and social issues. "Patt's long time coverage and insights make her one of the area's leading minds and voices on the most important issues in Southern California. Her back-story on the area provides a deep, thoughtful and entertaining commentary and provocative on-going conversation," commented Jarl Mohn, a member of the Southern California Public Radio Board of Trustees.
The additional hour of Patt Morrison will displace KPCC's 1 p.m. broadcast of Fresh Air, however Fresh Air will continue on the station's daily schedule at 7 p.m.
89.3 KPCC-FM is Southern California's most listened to public radio station, featuring the most NPR news, award-winning local news and signature public radio programs. The KPCC newsroom has garnered more awards for journalistic excellence than any other local station public or commercial. Each week a half-million listeners tune-in to KPCC's
