I went to the Dwell Design Conference over the weekend, and was immediately transported into a future untroubled by Cheerios ground into carpets, piano benches doubling as dining room chairs (sorry, Mom!), and scratchy Ikea linens.
There was a couch made of zippers (strangely soft), salvaged-wood tables that — upside down — turn into rocking divans, and this — a chair made of playing cards:
I even came up with a name for the show there: "A Brighter Tomorrow." It seemed so right... there... in the shiny, happy future. Now? Well... we're still looking.
