Nordstrom greeter Ted DiNunzio celebrates his 100th birthday today.

DiNunzio is known for saying hello to shoppers at Nordstrom in Westfield Santa Anita Mall in Arcadia. He landed the job when he was 86 years old.

DiNunzio grew up in Providence, Rhode Island and spent his career in the service industry as a waiter and meat cutter. After his wife passed away, he spent his days shopping at Nordstrom. A while later, a store manager offered him a job as a greeter.

DiNunzio told KPCC he has no plans to retire. He plans to keep busy.

“If you start worrying about things, you’re going to get sick and breakdown and everything,” DiNunzio told KPCC earlier this year. “This way - keep smiling and saying hello to everybody - you keep going. That’s your longevity.”
