LAUSD Superintendent John Deasy told KPCC he’s concerned there may be more victims in the teacher sex abuse case that broke this morning. Mark Berndt, a former teacher at Miramonte Elementary in Florence, was arrested in Torrance on Monday for committing lewd acts against children, including allegedly feeding them with spoonful of what police believe was semen.

"We want any student who believes they may have been involved with this teacher, exactly as the police said to, come forward and let us work to provide you support and obviously let the police work with you to deal with the criminal aspect of it," he said.

Police told the L.A. Times that 10 children in the photos recovered have not been identified.

In additional comments to the Times, Deasy said, "I hope this man spends the rest of his life in prison."

Deasy said that in the last year the school district has worked closely with the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department on the case. Berndt was fired in March. Deasy said the district removed Berndt the same day it was notified of the allegations against him.
