Officials say a male George de la Torre Jr. Elementary School teacher has been removed from the classroom and the principal replaced as police investigate inappropriate touching involving at least five students.
Los Angeles police Officer Karen Rayner says juvenile division detectives have filed reports of five students saying they were inappropriately touched by the teacher at the Wilmington area school.
Rayner says on Monday detectives interviewed six more students, but have not reported the results.
School district spokeswoman Monica Carazo says the teacher and principal were removed from the school Friday.
Administrators have notified parents that an investigation of inappropriate behavior is under way.
Neither school officials nor police would release the name of the teacher or any details of the allegations against him.
