Firefighters contain 110-acre Banning fire

The Riverside County Fire Department has reported that the Potrero Fire has been fully contained as of 8:00 p.m. The fire in the dry brush of Hathaway Canyon near Foothill and Potrero roads had consumed 110 acres.

Over 200 firefighters from the Riverside city and county departments, along with Forest Service personnel tackled the blaze. Ground crews were also aided by water-dropping helicopters and air tankers as well as bulldozers.

No injuries or damages to structures were reported, county fire officials announced.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
