If you live on the Westside you may be interested in coming out to a public meeting this evening on Metro's subway extension, the so-called Subway to the Sea. It takes place at 6 at the Westwood United Methodist Church.
Construction experts will be on hand to explain how homes, businesses, water lines and other structures will be protected as a pair of huge drills dig out twin bores 20 feet underground for the Westside extension.
Metro says even though they haven't made a final decision yet, most of the construction is expected to be under Wilshire itself. However, west of the the Beverly Hills shopping district, officials are considering bending the subway south of Wilshire to allow a station in Century City.
Property owners will be paid easements if the subway is built under their land.
Westwood United Methodist Church is located at 10497 Wilshire Blvd.
