It's not exactly my idea of a summer beach book, but the final report from the Financial Crisis Inquiry Commission will be published by Little, Brown and Co. The former head of the California Democratic Party Phil Angelides heads that committee. Former California Congressman Bill Thomas is its Vice Chair.
No details on how much money is involved, but the advance and part of the sales price goes to the Treasury!
The government has published its reports in the past. The Warren Commission Report on the slaying of President Kennedy and the 9/11 Commission Report were both put out by non-government publishing houses. Both were big sellers. But get this: the Financial Crisis Inquiry Commission retained a literary agent to set up an auction among publishing houses.
And you wonder why novelists can't get published.
