Charlie Brown's Creator in the Smithsonian

There's a new photograph in the Smithsonian's National Portrait Gallery.  Charles Schulz, the man who created dancing beagles and the football game from hell, joins other American icons gracing the walls of my favorite museum. 

Jeannie Schulz, "Sparky" Schulz' widow, e-mailed me her impression of the picture:

"I think when people see the photo, Sparky in a bright red sweater, smiling out at the camera, with the comic strip that is in the photograph also on the wall beside the photo, I think they will glimpse a little of the sense that this was the minute who created these stories and these characters. A rather amazing feat."
