A taste of autumn

Summer is really awful here in Washington.  But autumn is absolutely glorious!

It's a rainy day, but warm enough to make you want to be outside walking and getting wet.  Enough of the trees still have leaves to make a canopy of orange and vermilion and canary yellow.  Gathered berries and dead flowers and folliage to hang on my door.

Oh, I know.  You can do the same in southern California.  Sort of.  Liquid amber trees should be almost ready for their fall show.  But usually, California leaves show off several shades of brown.

Eat your heart out!
