As Congressional clock ticks down, Turkish press watches for Armenian genocide resolution

It's not on the official "things to do" list. But one of my colleagues from the Turkish press is asking the relevant Congressmen about a House Resolution that would officially recognize the Armenian genocide. More than a million Armenians died Almost a century ago during a campaign of massacres and forced marches directed by the Ottoman Empire. The Ottoman Empire is now Turkey, an important American ally. The resolution has not been brought to the floor for a vote. And it's not looking like it will. But the fact that it exists is enough for the Turkish press to take note. Postscript: Just heard from House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's office. The Speaker has not yet made a decision about whether to bring the resolution to the floor on Wednesday, likely the last day of this Congress.
