There's been some talk about doing away with the Office of Congressional Ethics. That's the supplemental committee made up of folks not currently serving in Congress who can investigate allegations of ethical violations brought by the press or the public. Talk of doing away with the OCE has faded away. And this weekend, I got word that former LA County Supervisor Yvonne Brathwaite Burke that she's been reappointed to the OCE. Several of the cases still under investigation at the House Ethics Committee (new name) were referred by the OCE. The House Ethics Committee can only examine allegations brought by fellow members ... Or the Office of Congressional Ethics.
