Alabama's immigration miss - Wall Street Journal Last year when Alabama lawmakers pushed a strict anti-illegal immigraiton bill, it was sold as a way to create jobs for native-born state residents. But recruiters are filling the job vacancies with more immigrants, largely African and Haitian refugees who are in the country legally.

Young Arizona immigrant gets deferred action - Associated Press Tucson resident Carlos Martinez, who holds two engineering degrees from the University of Arizona, will soon be able to work legally after becoming one of the first recipients of deferred action, temporary legal status being provided to young undocumented immigrants under a new federal policy. 

Haitians granted extended temporary residency - CBS Haitians who came to the U.S. following that country's devastating 2010 earthquake have had their temporary protected status extended through through July 2014, allowing them to live and work here legally.
