ACLU sues Sheriff Baca over jail refusals - Los Angeles Times Los Angeles County Sheriff Lee Baca is being sued by the American Civil Liberties Union on behalf of people who allege having been denied bail for minor offenses after they were subjected to immigration holds. 

Disney has a new Latina princess, Sofia, but is she Latina enough? - Southern California Public Radio The new princess is a young girl named Sofia, the star of a new animated television feature. Disney executives say she is Latina, but are not making a point of her ethnicity in the film. Some critics also say she looks too white.

AP memo clarifies how to use the term 'illegal immigrant' - Poynter In a memo to staff, the Associated Press' deputy managing editor for standards and production clarified its stance on the term and stressed the AP doesn't insist on using it, but also explained the AP's reasoning for not using terms like “undocumented immigrants” or “unauthorized immigrants.”
