Handguns are thrown into a trash bin for melting following a recent LAPD gun buyback event in Los Angeles. With gun control on the national agenda following December's school massacre in Connecticut, some immigrant advocates fear promised immigration reforms may be put on hold.

New anti-Muslim ads up in NYC subway stations - CBS News A group called the American Freedom Defense Initiative, which put up anti-Muslim ads last year, has purchased more space in stations for ads with "an image of the burning World Trade Center and a quote attributed to the Quran."  A woman was recently arrested for pushing a man she believed to be Muslim onto subway tracks in Queens.
