With Memorial Day passing through, its officially summertime in the SoCal area- which means the annual onslaught of summer concerts is just beginning. From electronic whiz kids to rock gods, it’s a pretty sizzling start to the season. Here’s the quick and dirty guide to the week in rock shows around town...

Novia Scotian indie rockers Wintersleep pay a visit to the Echo this Tuesday with fresh material from their soon-to-be-released 5th studio album, “Hello Hum.” Wednesday brings out rock titan Jack White to the Wiltern for the first of two shows, oddball musician/comedian Reggie Watts to the Fonda, and Loudin Wainwright to the Grammy Museum.

On Thursday, KCRW hosts electronic darling Santigold at the Anaheim House of Blues, as well as an installment of Church Sessions at the First Unitarian Church featuring Diego Garcia, Ryat and Miguel Atwood Ferguson (Brainfeeder Records). Never partied with taxidermy? Don’t miss First Fridays, which promises another stellar installment at the Natural History Museum, with Cut Chemist and the Superhumanoids. Santigold takes on Club Nokia, and dance rockers Art Vs. Science occupy the Echo. For those up for a road trip, Silversun Pickups, Garbage, the Naked and Famous and Grouplove will play the Santa Barbara Bowl for KJEE’s Summer Round Up.

Things get pretty retro on Saturday, with Dustbowl Revival at  the Echo and the Cass McCombs Band at the El Rey. On Sunday, British rockers the Duke Spirit headline a show at the Echoplex, alongside San Antonio-based Hacienda.
