Paul Reubens' big adventure hit a milestone on Monday as the Pee-wee Herman actor celebrated his 60th birthday.
Los Angeles incubated the origins of "Pee-wee" in the early '80s with Reubens crafting his signature characture as a member of the Groundlings and during runs at the Roxy.
Reubens teamed with Tim Burton on "Pee-wee's Big Adventure" and conquered tv with "Pee-wee's Playhouse" before getting involved in a wee scandal in an adult movie theater in Florida that temporarly tabled the Tequila dancing.
Word of the Day nostalgia did return, however, most recently taking the form of an art tribute at Gallery1988 in Venice last summer, and a stage production of The Pee-wee Herman Show in Downtown L.A. and on Broadway.
