Anna Kendrick in "Pitch Perfect."
Anna Kendrick is best known as an actress — an Academy Award-nominated one at that, for her role in “Up In The Air” — who’s also known for appearances in movies like the Twilight series, “Scott Pilgrim vs. the World,” “50/50” and “End of Watch.” However, she also dropped some musical knowledge in “Pitch Perfect,” and the song she sings in the film while doing a cup trick is now remixed with a background track and headed to radio, scheduled to hit airwaves March 26, according to All Access.
Check out her song, “Cups,” aka “When I’m Gone.”
As she noted in an interview with David Letterman, she picked up the party trick by watching a viral YouTube clip and spending an entire afternoon learning how to do it. (This is what famous actresses do with their free time.) You can check her out doing it on the David Letterman show here:
It probably won’t be this song, but Kendrick will likely be performing music for a big audience next month — “Pitch Perfect” costar Rebel Wilson tweeted Thursday that she’s trying to get the cast of the film back together for a song at the MTV Movie Awards.
I've been talking to the Pitch Perfect cast about reuniting for a number at MTV Movie Awards..aca-let's CRUSH IT x— Rebel Wilson (@RebelWilson) March 7, 2013
That show’s on Sunday, April 14, and Wilson is hosting. I’m hoping they’ll pull out something like the epic riff-off in a swimming pool from the movie, which culminates in an excellent solo riff from Miss Kendrick:
The Daily Mail is also reporting, citing unnamed sources, that Kendrick has split from her longtime beau, director Edgar Wright. The two met while working on Scott Pilgrim. Whether that’s true or not, it sounds like Kendrick’s got plenty to keep her occupied for a long time to come.
Here’s the original song that Kendrick covered for “Pitch Perfect,” by Lulu and the Lampshades:
Correction: An earlier version of this story incorrectly stated that she had won an Academy Award.
