Despite this story's screaming Lebowski plot ("The million bucks was never in the briefcase! The Big Lebowski gave me an empty briefcase, so take it up with him, man!"), below are the details as reported by the Glendale News- Press.
A police perimeter was set up and K-9 officers were deployed to sniff out burglary suspects who kicked through a window and stole a briefcase of cash from a parked Bentley behind a business in Glendale, according to police.
Witnesses reported a possible fight on the 400 block of West Colorado Street around noon, after seeing a man break a window of the parked car.
The suspect, and possibly two other men, ran from the scene and began removing items of clothing "to conceal their appearance," said Glendale Police Sgt. Tom Lorenz.
All of the possible suspects were described by witnesses as men in their 30s to 40s. One was seen wearing a black hooded-sweatshirt and blue jeans, the second wore a white hooded-sweatshirt and had a beard, and the third wore a gray shirt and had a shaved head.
The Bentley owner is reportedly a businessman who did not know his car was being burglarized, said Lorenz.
