Law enforcement, clergy members, and the head of the Pasadena NAACP held a private meeting Tuesday to discuss the police shooting of 19-year-old Kendrec McDade, says the Pasadena Star News.

The popular football star from Azusa High was shot and killed by two Pasadena police officers on Saturday night following a foot pursuit. Officers said McDade reached for his waistband, prompting fears that he had a gun. No weapon has been found.

Prior to the shooting, McDade and a suspected teenage accomplice were allegedly involved in the attempted robbery of a taco truck patron.

The robbery victim, who pursued the pair on foot, called police and reported that one of the men was armed with a handgun.

The pair split up while running, and the teen was apprehended later that evening and arrested on suspicion of murder.
