A Moreno Valley school board member, already charged with attempted murder for shooting at people, is now facing a slew of other charges, including rape, pandering and pimping.  At least two of the alleged victims are underage girls.

Authorities say Mike Rios used promises of jobs and favors to lure several women into prostitution. In one case, the 42 year-old school board member allegedly promised two underage girls the use of his home and vehicle if they worked for him as prostitutes.

Rios, who was elected to the board in 2010, faces multiple counts of rape, pandering and pimping. Prosecutors say he did not meet the victims through his school board duties. But Rios would apparently tell them he worked for the school district and asked if they needed jobs.  He’s currently being jailed on a $500,000 bail.

Earlier this year Rios was charged with two counts of attempted murder after allegedly firing a gun at two men outside his home in Moreno Valley. The Democratic Club of Moreno Valley subsequently launched a recall effort against him last month.

Rios’ wife is also jailed on separate charges. Dora Landaverde Torres was arrested last year in a nationwide immigration sweep targeting alleged criminal aliens. She’s facing deportation to her native El Salvador.
