FBI helps hunt for pipe-bomb bank robber in Seal Beach

Authorities in Seal Beach are looking for the man shown in this video surveillance footage.

FBI agents announced they are joining the search for a man who robbed a bank in Seal Beach while apparently wielding a pipe bomb.

The robbery occurred last Friday afternoon at about 3:40 p.m. at U.S. Bank, located in the Leisure World Shopping Center. According to the Seal Beach Police Department, the robber first displayed a handgun to bank employees, then placed what he said was a pipe bomb down on a desk. He then demanded cash, and authorities say he fled with an undisclosed amount.

The robber is described as a white man between 25 and 35 years old, with a thin build and wearing a beige cap and plaid shirt. Anyone with information is urged to contact Seal Beach police Detective Gary Krogman at (562) 799-4100, ext. 1108 or
