A 3-year-old girl required 100 stitches after being attacked by a mastiff at an Easter gathering in Victorville, according to the Victorville Daily Press.
Relatives told the Daily Press that young Hayleh Harger was at her home when a friend of the family brought over the dog and chained it up in the backyard. But it was too close to Hayleh’s playhouse, and when the girl went out to play, the dog attacked.
Hayleh’s mother reportedly found her face-down on the ground with the dog on top of her. Mastiffs can grow as large as three feet tall and weigh as much as 200 pounds. She managed to pull her daughter free and the girl was airlifted to Loma Linda University Medical Center where she required 100 stitches to her face, the Daily Press reports.
Hayleh is expected to recover, although she may need surgery to repair her lip, relatives said.
Three months ago another mastiff tore a 6-year-old boy’s ear off in Moreno Valley.
