Police seek victims of alleged phony lawyer in Alhambra

Alhambra Police Department

Gerald Lionel Garcia-Barron

Have you seen this man? Did you hire him as your lawyer?

If so, Alhambra police would like to talk to you.

CBS reports that Gerald Garcia-Barron, a disbarred lawyer from La Mirada who was arrested earlier today by Alhambra police, has been allegedly bilking clients since losing his law license in 2011, possibly by taking money from people as a retainer for services he can’t perform.

He faces felony charges of theft and practicing law without a license.

“Mr. Garcia-Barron is known to meet potential clients at coffee houses in and around the Alhambra area,” Sgt. Jerry Johnson of the Alhambra Police Department told CBS.

Anyone with information on Garcia-Barron -- particularly anybody who thinks they have been victimized by him -- is urged to call (626) 570-5136.
