Anaheim police say a woman caught trying to cash a phony check attempted to flee authorities -- but wound up in a three-car collision instead, injuring herself and another woman.

The incident happened at about 11 a.m. this morning in Anaheim, when the suspect -- who has not yet been identified by police -- allegedly tried to cash a forged check at a check cashing place on the 100 block of S. Brookhurst Street. Officers arrived just as she was leaving, and the woman ignored requests to stop, according to KCAL.

A car chase ensued, with a police helicopter following the woman from above. She reportedly drove onto the Santa Ana Freeway then back off again, ultimately crashing into two other cars at Manchester Avenue and Broadway. KCAL broadcast footage of the aftermath of the crash, with smashed vehicles and debris scattered around the intersection.

The two women were treated at nearby hospitals for moderate injuries, police said.

The Orange County Register reports that the woman is being held on suspicion of forgery, burglary and felony evasion.
