The California Highway Patrol reports this evening that a man driving through Torrance was shot in the head by someone in another car on the 110 freeway.

Plancentia resident Anh Tram Nguyen, 21, was shot at about 2:45 p.m. today, according to reports. TV news helicopter footage showed a black Honda coupe on the side of the highway with a single bullet hole in its driver-side window.

A CBS report said Nguyen might have been hit in the ear, either by the bullet or debris when it went through the window. He was apparently able to pull over and call 911, and KTLA reports that he was taken to Harbor-UCLA Medical Center and is listed in stable condition.

The incident happened on northbound 110, either on or near the Figueroa Street onramp. The shooter has not been identified, and CHP investigators have not yet given a description of the vehicle.
