Cake is the reason three people were stabbed at a San Diego party on Saturday night.

San Diego residents who weren't invited to any parties Saturday night should consider themselves lucky.

U-T San Diego reports that three men were stabbed in City Heights at a family party on Fairmount Avenue near Dwight Street around 10:55 p.m.

San Diego police said that one of the stab-victims-to-be smeared cake on his girlfriend's face. Both of them thought it was funny – but the girlfriend's brother did not. He got so mad that he took out a knife and stabbed the boyfriend, along with two others.

One victim got stabbed in the stomach, another in the back and another got knifed twice in the back. Police said all three were taken to the hospital for treatment.

Meanwhile, around 11 p.m., another dispute at a family party in a Lincoln Park apartment was unfolding – this time about music, reports the L.A. Times.

U-T San Diego says a 44-year-old man stabbed a 23-year-old man he wasn't related to but called his "nephew" in the shoulder with a knife.

Witnesses tackled the stabber and held him down until police arrived.

The victim was taken to the hospital, and his attacker was booked on assault with a deadly weapon.

The Cake Stabber, though, got away and is still at large.
