Strong-arm cell phone robber attacks students on Cal Poly Pomona campus

Cal Poly University Police

Police are looking for a face-punching cell phone thief who has attacked at least two students on the Cal Poly Pomona campus.

In both cases -- one on April 30 and the other on May 3 -- the guy was a real jerk: First he walks up to a student, asks to borrow their cell phone, then punches them in the face. Then he runs away.

University police released a composite sketch of the suspect this week, and describe him as a thin white man in his early 20s, 5-foot-9 and 140 pounds, with spiky blond hair and acne scars on his face.

The man also may be responsible for a third incident in November of last year, police say.

Anyone with information on the case is asked to call university police at (909) 869-3070. Anonymous tips may be made by calling (909) 869-3399.

Meanwhile, Cal Poly students in San Luis Obispo, where the main campus is, are being attacked by a literal turkey.
