Harbor guards found a dead man along the beach just before sunrise this morning in Santa Monica. Sgt. Richard Lewis of the Santa Monica Police Department says the man is white and appears to be in his 30s to 50s.
“He was in the sand under the water line for awhile. Because we had low tide is how his body was exposed. They moved him only for the fact that high tide was coming in.” Lewis says the body was found on a section of the beach near the 2800 block of Barnard Way on the south end of Santa Monica, just a few blocks from Venice Beach.
He says the coroner and robbery and homicide detectives are on scene. They've taped off part of the beach for their investigation.
