Update: Possible hostage situation at Inglewood Burlington Coat Factory ends

UPDATE: City News Service reports that the apparent armed robbery attempt at a Burlington Coat
Factory outlet in Inglewood ended peacefully sometime after 9:30 a.m. when the suspects surrendered after allowing workers to walk out.

Ten people have emerged from an Inglewood Burlington Coat Factory store where a SWAT team responded to a report of workers possibly being held hostage.

SWAT officers had to break the glass of an apparently locked door so the people could get out Thursday morning.

Five women and five men have come out of the store. Police said some of the people are employees. There was no immediate word of any arrests.

Inglewood police Lt. Neal Cochran says three men entered the building about 7:30 a.m. and at least one was armed. The store was not open yet.

Businesses on both sides of the store have been evacuated and streets around the store are closed. Police from nearby cities also assisted with the response.
