The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department said in a statement Sunday that Rachel Ann Guerrero took her 6-year-old son and her 21-month-old son while having lunch Thursday with the children's grandmother.

Authorities say a 30-year-old woman with mental health problems suspected of abducting her two young sons in Southern California may be headed to the Dominican Republic.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department said in a statement Sunday that Rachel Ann Guerrero took her 6-year-old son and her 21-month-old son while having lunch Thursday with the children's grandmother.

Guerrero's father has full custody of the children. On Friday, Guerrero agreed to meet and release the children to their grandfather at Universal Studios, but she never showed up.

The Department of Children Family Services notified sheriff's investigators on Saturday that the children may be danger because Guerrero is bipolar, schizophrenic and may have a substance abuse problem.

Sheriff's officials are asking for the public's help in finding Guerrero and the children.
