The scene in Burbank where police believe they have found the body of a missing FBI agent Stephen Ivens.
Burbank police say a body found by hikers Tuesday night on a fire road behind St. Francis Xavier Parish and School may belong to a missing FBI agent.
Burbank Police Sgt. Darin Ryburn said they found evidence that leads them to believe the remains belong to Stephen Ivens, who went missing more than two months ago.
“We did recover a weapon. It was a handgun and it was consistent with what was missing from FBI agent Stephen Ivens, and the family has been notified," he said.
The official identification of the body will be conducted through the Los Angeles County Coroner's Office.
Ryburn said the remains looked like they had been there since Ivens went missing in May. They were found about a mile from his home on a fire road above St. Francis.
The FBI is assisting Burbank police with their investigation.
