A former county appraiser who allegedly lowered tax assessments may have been doing so for as long as a decade, reports the Los Angeles Times. District Attorney Steve Cooley has called Scott Schenter's alleged crimes "almost inconceivable ... We believe his actions were not isolated."
Los Angeles City Attorney Carmen Trutanich has $112,000 in unpaid bills from his run for district attorney, according to the Los Angeles Times. Those bills are from his former campaign manager for television ads that ran in the final weeks of the campaign. Trutanich is disputing the charges.
State Controller John Chiang has endorsed Alex De Ocampo for Los Angeles City Council in the Thirteenth District, according to his campaign.
The Department of Water and Power is working to make 6,000 homes more energy efficient, according to the Daily News. The effort is part of RePower L.A., a campaign backed by the Los Angeles Alliance for a New Economy.
