Police say son set his mother on fire, killing her

A woman died August 30 after her son allegedly set her on fire, LAPD Officer Karen Rayner said Thursday.
Police responding to an arson investigation in Sylmar on August 25 found Heunae Chang suffering from severe burns. Emergency workers took her to the hospital, where she died days later.
Phillip Chang, 25, is in jail on $1 million bail.
Detectives from the city's elite Robbery-Homicide unit have taken up the case. They're witholding details on a possible motive and method of the apparent murder and arson.
