A shallow magnitude-3.5 earthquake struck at 12:03 a.m. in Beverly Hills, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. It was reported felt from Santa Monica to Hollywood and the San Fernando Valley, according to City News Service. Twitter lit up at the news, as jolted Angeles sought confirmation. Area news sites woke up momentarily to report the temblor.
Kevin Roderick at media-watchdog blog L.A. Observed noted the quake and recommended readers "Go back to bed. It's the lengthy, rocking, violent quakes that you have to worry about."
The quake is the second to strike the area this week.
