Breeders' Cup Pick Six bettor earns $773,865 from online wager [Updated]
One bettor successfully selected all of the winning horses in Friday's Breeders' Cup Pick Six which will result in a $773,865 payday.
The owner of the ticket, purchased through the online site Xpress Bet, has yet to be identified, reports the Associated Press.
Picking all six winners on Day 1 of the annual two-day spectacle was particularly difficult because several of the winners were long shots.
On-track attendance of the first day of the Breeders Cup at Arcadia's Santa Anita Park was 34,619.
The wagering total of Friday's races was $47,586,765, a dip from Friday's total of $50,053,505 gambled last year, which some are blaming on the inability of some would-be East Coast off-track bettors from participating due to super storm Sandy.
[Update 1:48 p.m.: Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. will attend the 2012 Breeders’ Cup Classic at Santa Anita Park today during Day 2 of the Cup and will join in honoring the winner of the race at approximately 5:30 p.m.]
