Update 8:34 a.m.: The CHP reports that all lanes of the 710 freeway are open. They were fully closed for about an hour and fifteen minutes. Traffic is still heavy in the area.
The 710 Freeway is closed at this hour in Commerce after power lines fell across all of the lanes following an accident involving a big rig truck.
Los Angeles County fire officials say it happened at about 7:15 a.m. Monday Washington Boulevard and the downed line sparked a small fire in some bushes near the freeway.
A truck heading south apparently hit the low-hanging wire. TV news reports show the wire draped across the top of a big-rig container and running across all traffic lanes.
No injuries are reported, but the line is live. It is unknown at this time when the freeway will reopen. Traffic is backed up for miles in both directions.
