An armed man stood in the street by a stolen car and demanded, with gun in hand, money from employees arriving at a Garden Grove business Thursday morning.

According to a news release by the Garden Grove Police Department, the suspect, 29-year-old Joshua MiKuley, fled the 7500 block of Santa Rita Circle as officers arrived, leading officers on a two-minute, one and a half-mile pursuit.

MiKuley — a Tustin resident on parole for auto theft — reportedly ran from the vehicle into a shopping center near Beach Blvd. and Katella where the "uncooperative" subject was taken into custody after a struggle with OCSD deputies and GGPD officials.

In the ignition of the vehicle driven by the suspect was "a shaved master key," and he was said to be in possession of several more such keys.

29-year-old MiKuley was arrested and booked at Orange County Jail on suspicion of:

  • Attempted armed robbery
  • Vehicle pursuit
  • Possession of master keys
  • Parole violation
  • Auto theft

The gun involved in the crime was not found. Call Garden Grove police at 714-741-5704 should you stumble upon a firearm in the area.

The vehicle driven by the suspect is registered out of Tustin and was reported stolen in the City of Santa Ana. Santa Ana officials are handling the stolen vehicle report.
