Orange County Register Publisher Aaron Kushner (left) and company President Eric Spitz. This summer, Kushner's Boston-based investment firm, 2100 Trust bought Freedom Communications and The Register.
Aaron Kushner told The Associated Press on Thursday that he and his partners have the resources to seriously consider buying the newspapers, and the publications may have what he looks for in an acquisition target. But he cautions that he hasn't examined the Tribune's finances.
Kushner says he expects the Tribune's new owners would sell the newspapers together instead of auctioning them off separately.
Kushner is the CEO of Freedom Communications Inc., which publishes the Orange County Register. He and a group of investors bought Freedom in July.
