Emergency medical teams respond to Narbonne High School Wednesday morning, Jan. 23, 2013 after a teen girl pepper-sprayed another during a fight.
A teenage girl used pepper spray on another female student during a fight today at Narbonne High School in the Los Angeles community of Harbor City, and several other people were also exposed to the irritant. A total of 12 students were affected in the small community just south of Torrance.
Firefighters and paramedics were sent to the campus at about 10:40 a.m., said Brian Humphrey of the Los Angeles Fire Department.
According to the preliminary investigation, two girls were fighting when one of the students used pepper spray on the other, said Susie Solano of the Los Angeles Unified School District. She said several others were also exposed to the irritant.
Reports from the scene indicated that two people, a counselor and a teacher, were to be transported to a local hospital for further treatment.
There was another fight at Narbonne High School in October between two girls that resulted in a pepper-spraying, but that time it was an officer who fired the pepper spray following a fight to disperse a crowd.
