Rick and Jessica Garcia embrace after their wedding at the L.A. County Clerk's office. This year, for the first time, the agency is scheduling marriage license appointments on February 14.
Valentine’s Day is just around the corner. For couples who want to legalize their love, the Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk is scheduling appointments for weddings on that date.
Couples must apply for marriage licenses before they schedule a wedding ceremony. This is the first year the agency has accepted appointments.
“We implemented this system to accommodate the demand. We have seen significant interest in this special day,” said Dean Logan, registrar-recorder/county clerk.
A marriage license and ceremony will cost about $115. That's something of a bargain. The Knot estimates that the average wedding for 150 guests costs $25,000.
The L.A. County clerk operates branch offices in Lancaster, Norwalk, Van Nuys and Los Angeles.
