Public Radio vintage tattoos: 'This American Life' as a bulldog soldier or anchor-riding mermaid

This American Life has posted on its website a set of eight vintage-inspired tattoos (pictured above) as one of the gifts you can get for donating to some local public radio stations during spring pledge drives.

NPR, WNYC, WHYY and This American Life collaborated on the tough and temporary tattoo collection which was designed by tattoo artists Alex McWattAndy Perez and Claire Keane.

Over the years, public radio stations have given away all sorts of untraditional premiums to say thank you for donating.

Colorado's KRCC once created squirrel underpants (for boy and girl squirrels), zombie helmets protected KMUW listeners in Wichita, and all over Seattle pants were secure thanks to KEXP's retro metal belt buckles. In the late 1970s WUNC in North Carolina even made its own beer, notes NPR.
