Medical workers aid injured people at the finish line of the 2013 Boston Marathon following an explosion in Boston, Monday, April 15, 2013.

Despite reports on CNN and by the Associated Press saying otherwise, no arrests were made in the Boston Marathon bombings when CNN and AP reported there were, according to the FBI and the Boston Police Department.

The FBI released a statement calling out media who reported there was an arrest:

Contrary to widespread reporting, no arrest has been made in connection with the Boston Marathon attack. Over the past day and a half, there have been a number of press reports based on information from unofficial sources that has been inaccurate. Since these stories often have unintended consequences, we ask the media, particularly at this early stage of the investigation, to exercise caution and attempt to verify information through appropriate official channels before reporting.

Both CNN and AP were forced to walk back their earlier reporting, with John King going as far as blaming their sources.
