Assemblyman Bob Blumenfield is the latest Sacramento politician to run for a Los Angeles city office.

An assemblyman from the San Fernando Valley is the latest candidate to announce for the Los Angeles City Council, in this instance hoping to succeed the councilman of the Third District.

Assemblyman Bob Blumenfield filed papers with the Ethics Commission to begin raising campaign funds. Councilman Dennis Zine, who is running to be the next city controller, currently holds the seat. The Third District includes the neighborhoods of Woodland Hills, Tarzana, Reseda and Canoga Park--some of which fall in Blumenfield's Assembly district.

Blumenfield was elected to the state Assembly in 2008. Before holding office, he worked for Sen. Bill Bradley and Rep. Howard Berman in Washington, D.C. Blumenfield was also the director of government affairs for the Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy.

He is married to Kafi Blumenfield, president of the Liberty Hill Foundation.
