An incident in Burbank that prompted Thursday morning evacuations, street closures, and rallied the presence of the SWAT team, has been contained.
KPCC's Rob Strauss spoke to Sgt. Darin Ryburn of the Burbank police department who said four men between the ages of 30 and 40 have been detained, streets were re-opened, and all of the evacuations had been lifted.
At around 6:45 a.m. a witness called police to a report of two gunshots fired in the 1800 block of Keeler Street in Burbank. An officer arriving at the scene observed what appeared to be gunpowder in the air, and measures were taken to secure the area, said Ryburn.
Employing a loudspeaker, authorities attempted to make contact with individuals inside a residence to no avail. Concerned for the safety of witnesses, neighbors, and officers, authorities began evacuating nearby homes in all directions and closing streets at Keeler and Peyton Avenue, Grismer Avenue and Elliot Drive, and Keeler at Morgan Avenue, notes the Glendale Leader.
