At an LAPD impound yard, the charred body of an unidentified victim was discovered Saturday night inside a vehicle that firefighters extinguished earlier that day.
LA firefighters responded to a burning car in the 6000 block of Sister Elsie Drive in Tujunga around 2 p.m. Saturday afternoon, after which, police had the car remains transported to Black and White Inc. Towing in Pacoima on San Fernando Road, an impound yard, reports NBC LA.
An investigator made the discovery of a body around 9 p.m.
“It wasn’t apparent to the firefighters and the police officers who impounded the vehicle that there was a body in the car,” said LAPD Detective Pat Barron. “Once it (the car) came back to the tow yard, it (the body) was discovered at the tow yard."
Fire officials took apart the car around 11 p.m. and the the human remains were recovered and handed over to coroner's officials.
