Photo of Obama firing a shotgun misses mark with critics

President Barack Obama firing at skeet at Camp David in August, 2012.

To appease skeptics who doubted Barack Obama when he said in an interview that he shoots skeet "all the time", the White House on Saturday obeyed the Internet rule of "pics or it didn't happen" and released a photo taken of the president firing a shotgun in August.

The controversy began on Sunday when, during an interview with the New Republic, President Obama was asked if he had ever fired a gun.

"Yes, in fact, up at Camp David, we do skeet shooting all the time," he responded, adding that he has a "profound respect for the traditions of hunting that trace back in this country for generations. And I think those who dismiss that out of hand make a big mistake."

What was dismissed, however, was the accuracy of his claim to have shot skeet.

“If he is a skeet shooter, why have we not heard of this?” Replubican Congresswoman Marsha Blackburn of Tennessee asked Erin Burnett on CNN on Monday. “Why have we not seen photos? Why has he not referenced it at any point in time as we have had this gun debate that is ongoing?”

President Barack Obama jokingly mimics U.S. Olympic gymnast McKayla Maroney's "not impressed" look while greeting members of the 2012 U.S. Olympic gymnastics teams in the Oval Office, Nov. 15, 2012. Steve Penny, USA Gymnastics President, and Savannah Vinsant laugh at left.

Even McKayla Maroney was impressed.

A photo of the Olympic gold medalist gymnast and President Barack Obama doing her now-famous "McKayla Maroney is not impressed" face went viral Saturday after the White House posted it on Twitter. The two took the picture Thursday when Maroney and her Fierce Five teammates visited the White House.

"He was the one who brought it up," Maroney  told The Associated Press. "We were about to leave and he said, 'I want to talk to you one second about the face.' He said, 'I pretty much do that face at least once a day.'"

Maroney was photographed making the half scowl with her nose scrunched up while she was on the medals podium after winning silver on vault at the London Olympics. It spawned dozens of "McKayla Maroney is not impressed" memes — including one showing a photoshopped Maroney in the White House Situation Room on the night Osama Bin Laden was killed.

Singer Andy Williams poses for a publicity photo circa 1962.

Andy Williams, the crooner who sold over 100 million records over 70 years in showbusiness, died today at 84.

His death continued a strange trend on Twitter where people of all ages publicly announce that they have no idea who the fallen famous person was.

Williams, the iconic singer of "Moon River", the man who brought The Osmond Brothers to the nation's attention on his Emmy-award winning tv series, the Grammy host for seven consecutive years, was also the lifelong Republican who publicly stood up for John Lennon when the Nixon administration tried to deport the Beatle.

More recently the artist who released eight Christmas albums lashed out against Barack Obama saying he didn't like the current president at all.

"I think he wants to create a socialist country. The people he associates with are very Left-wing. One is registered as a Communist," Williams said in 2009. "Obama is following Marxist theory. He's taken over the banks and the car industry. He wants the country to fail."

Barstow rodeo clown makes racist joke about Michelle Obama and doesn't apologize

Although Michelle Obama is generally well-liked around the country, if not loved, apparently she still has work to do. One rodeo clown this weekend in Barstow told a racist joke that not only fell flat, but it has also spread quickly around the country.

The San Luis Obispo Tribune reports that rodeo clown Mike Hayhurst told the audience of the Creston Classic Rodeo that Playboy is offering former Gov. Mitt Romney's wife, Ann, $250,000 to pose in the magazine, but that the White House is upset about it because National Geographic only offered $50 to Mrs. Obama.

The Creston Classic Rodeo board said they are not responsible for the joke, probably won't use him in the future and will ask the clown for a letter to explain himself as well as a public apology, according to the newspaper.

Calls to Hayhurst and the publicity manager of the rodeo went unreturned.

At the house No Doubt built, front femme Gwen Stefani hosted a family-friendly fundraiser on Sunday featuring Michelle Obama.

The first of the first lady's three finance-finding missions, Obama's two day tour of Los Angeles started in a gated Beverly Hills enclave off Mulholland Drive where she mingled with many pockets in 90+ degree heat for what was billed as a "Sunday of Fun."

Tickets for the backyard playdate started at $2500 for a family of four, and approximately 400 guests were expected to attend with proceeds benefitting the Obama Victory Fund -- a joint fundraising committee of Obama for America, the Democratic National Committee and a number of state Democratic parties.

According to the Pool report, Obama spoke to a crowd of parents, temporarily tattooed children, and a hot dog balloon hat wearing staff member, remarking that, "Barack can’t do it alone.  He’s not Spider-Man.  He’s not a superhero. He’s a human. So, he needs your help."
