A Los Angeles parking enforcement officer who was fired for appearing in a pornographic movie while on duty will not be reinstated, officials determined today.

The firing of Officer John Dancler, a 23-year veteran of the Bureau of Parking Enforcement, was upheld by the city’s Civil Service Commission, which made a similar ruling in January following the officer’s July 2011 dismissal by the city.

Last year Dancler and a fellow officer were propositioned out of the blue by a film crew asking them to be in their pornographic video -- on duty, in uniform and alongside their city patrol car -- and Dancler apparently thought, what the heck.

He should have thought again. Although he pleaded for his job in January, apologizing and saying it was a mistake, Dancler was let go by the Civil Service Commission. He appealed, and the board upheld its decision in a 4-0 vote, according to NBC.

At a hearing on Wednesday, John Dancler, the 23-year veteran L.A. traffic cop fired for his on duty, uniformed, extracurricular appearance in a porn film, fought to be reinstated as a traffic officer.

Dancler said of his involvement, "it wasn't the best thing I have ever done," as he made an appeal to the Los Angeles Civil Service Commission to reverse the misconduct dismissal by The Department of Transportation following last year's NBC4 investigation

The hearing examiner was shown every frame of Dancler's role in the film that included public groping, spanking and other acts with an adult video actress.

The former officer said he was "caught totally unaware" when he was approached to appear in the film.

A report from the hearing will be evaluated by a full Civil Aervice Commission next month, and a decision will be made.
